Research & Teaching Interests
Applied cultural (cognitive/environmental) anthropology; anthropological methods and theory; agriculture, conservation, and ritual; behavior and folk knowledge; technology and pedagogy; Belize, Internet, Madagascar, and the United States.
Current Research
My research is focused upon community development in Kentucky through the lenses of applied cognitive and environmental anthropology using mixed research methods (qualitative and quantitative approaches). In directing the Center for Applied Anthropology (CfAA), I engage students in applying anthropology to real world problems to prepare them for careers and graduate school.
